League-leading Arsenal have made a key signing from a fellow Premier League title-chaser, but it's not in the way you might think.

While Claudio Ranieri recently insisted during a press conference that Leicester City stars Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are staying put in January, it seems he's let a prize asset slip through his fingers.

According to James Whaling of the Daily Mirror (h/t Express), the Gunners have picked up the head of technical scouting at the King Power Stadium, Ben Wrigglesworth.

It might not earn a yellow bar on Sky Sports News, but this could be the signing of the season given that, according to Whaling, Wrigglesworth was the mastermind behind the Foxes signing Algerian Mahrez and Frenchman N'Golo Kante.

The pair have helped haul Leicester—relegation strugglers last term—into an unlikely title race.

With both Arsenal and Ranieri's Foxes dropping points over the weekend, the gap between the top three is now just one point, with Arsene Wenger's men leading the league on goal difference only.
