New York Giants Breaking News
September 24, 2009
Multiple reports are coming out on New York Giants Safety Kenny Phillips officially being out for the season. I have seen these reports on ESPN, Mike Francesa & SB Nation thus far. Tom Coughlin has been very quiet on the circumstances surrounding this breaking news. It is very strange that he wouldn't say why the Giants have taken these steps.
Apparently, it was the pre existing condition known as "Patella Femoral Arthritis" that caused the team to shut him down and he may still require surgery. I am sure more news will follow about this horrible loss to the G-men. The Giants have already acquired Safety Aaron Rouse off waivers from the Green Bay Packers.
This is an absolutely HUGE blow to the team who have already been decimated by injuries this season. In my last article, I mentioned some of the more notable players who have landed on both the IR and weekly injury reports. The injuries are becoming the number one issue with the 2009 Giants thus far.
The defensive backs were hit particularly hard with CB Aaron Ross not having played in a game yet. CB Kevin Dockery banged up and now S Kenny Phillips being put on IR and out for the season. The New York Giants DB's were expected to be a very productive squad for the team this year. This could prove to be extremely difficult to overcome.
