Barcelona travelled to Espanyol on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie.
The visitors, with newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Leo Messi in their midst, went into the match with a 4-1 lead thanks to the result of last week's first leg.
Messi had the game's first chance when Francesco Bardi saved the Argentinian's half volley.
The Argentinian was denied once more before he turned provider for Munir El Haddadi after 32 minutes, who put Barcelona 5-1 up on aggregate.
