Toure had won the award four years in a row prior to 2015, and he wasn't happy about missing out on a fifth award after guiding the Ivory Coast to African Cup of Nations success in February:

It's fair to say fans on Twitter were not impressed with Toure's extreme reaction:

@br_uk this guy is mad 😕😕

@br_uk give that man a birthday cake to show him he's loved!!! o wait...... That simply won't do lol 😭

@br_uk if Yaya put as much effort on the pitch as he did into this speech, he might have won.

If we follow the criterias you're preaching zol @YayaToure it means that you stole 2012 2013 African Player of the year awards yep ?

Yaya Toure barely broke sweat in 2015 while Auba became one of the elite strikers in Europe. Hard to see how he's upset.

Yaya Toure says AFCON POTY decision shames Africa by disregarding achievements in Africa. Maybe he should play in the Ivorian Ligue 1

Yaya Toure, a sore loser. Who'd have thought?
