As the Arsenal youngsters carved up in the League Cup, dismissing a lowly West Bromwich Albion side 2-0, the footballing world was given a glimpse of what to expect from the Gunners in years to come.

With the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mark Randall, and Sanchez Watt all looking promising, another standout performer was rookie goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny (yes, I don't know how to say it either).

The Polish youngster was given a senior Arsenal debut and didn't fail to show his worth. The 19-year-old pulled off a number of crucial and impressive saves whilst also looking relatively strong off corners.

With first choice keeper Manuel Almunia battling with injuries, confidence, and form, and second choice keeper Lukasz Fabianski out injured till mid-October, Szczęsny could overtake Vito Mannone for the current first choice keeper role.

Although Mannone has not displayed glaringly bad performance, the Italian has looked shaky at times and could benefit from a loan move. Szczęsny is no doubt a huge talent, and with Arsenal desperately needing a full-time, consistent, reliable keeper, why not elevate the young Polish keeper and help him gain some valuable experience?
