After a heart breaking loss last week at home against the Denver Broncos, the Bengals rallied the troops to win a thriller at Lambeau Field, 31-24.
There is no question who today's players of the game were. Defensively for the Bengals, defensive end Antwan Odom absolutely dominated the game with five sacks. The Packers offensive line just couldn't block the guy today...which surely make Bengal fans happy after a pretty bad season last year. For the offense, Cedric Benson quited his critics, carrying the ball 29 times for 141 yards...proving to be the type of back that can pick up difficult yards and carry the load.
Rey Maualuga also made a huge impact today, notching his first sack and forcing two fumbles. He ended the game with 4 total tackles.
While I am extremely pleased with the win, there were a LOT of things that made you pull your hair out. First and foremost, the game was one of the sloppiest games I've ever watched. The team committed 13 penalties for 100 yards. As I have said numerous times, this team plays with no discipline. Marvin needs to make it a point to emphasise discipline heading into Steelers week, we can't continue to beat ourselves like we did today.
In addition to the penalties, Carson Palmer also didn't have the type of game we would have liked him to have. While he did throw for three touchdowns, he also threw two costly interceptions, one of which resulting in a pick six. Both INT's we made by former Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson.
Enjoy the win, go out and celebrate...do whatever it is you do after a win, but this team has a long way to go. One thing we can all hang our hats on is the fact that our defense is keeping us in games and hopefully our offense will catch up.
