I am A big homer when it comes to Duke. Passionate basketball fan and really trying to be a fan of the football team. Which to be honest hasn't really produced anything since the Steve Spurrier days. I know that there was a time when Duke was a major force in Football they even played in the Rose Bowl, however those days have long past and here we sit watching Duke take another drumming this past Saturday in Kansas. I believe Cutcliffe is a good coach, but I don't think it really matters who the coach is Duke just dosen't get the the recruits in for Football like they do for Basketball. Which is why the saying is we are a Basketball School only. Do I agree with that statement, well right now I would have to say yes, could we be a football school also yes. I think we have to change the mindset of the program and change the minds of recruits that we can be winners. As it stands major recruits don't want to come and play where losing is the mindset or not playing on TV. Duke has a great facility and the fan base has grown,we have a great coach, but yet here we are being the same Duke team losing games and getting blown out by other teams. How do we start changing the mindset of the program...I wish I had the answer. I'm not putting down the football program cause I would love to see the glory days again but until we get the recruits,it dosen't matter who the coach is,it will just be the same result. I think we need to give Cutcliffe a chance to redeem the program, maybe even a few years, but I think he can recruit the players and I think Duke will one day be a force and not a doormat in football. Until that happens we as Duke fans will continue to look past football and look to Basketball,so I ask you Do We Really Care About Duke Football? Can Duke Football be saved? My answer is yes!
