Even Thomas Vermaelen cant believe how great of a start he has had.

Since signing for Arsenal F.C. from Ajax Amsterdam F.C. on June 19 for an initial €10 million (£8.45m), Vermaelen has broken into the starting 11, scored four goals, and providing rock solid defense.

The 6'0 foot tall Belgian has come into the season with amazing form, which has allowed him to make his presence felt.

If anyone doubted his ability to adjust to the Premier League before the season started, they were sorely mistaken.

Just look at this past week.

On the 16th of September, vs Standard Liege, his home country club, he scored the game tying goal that made the score 2-2 with a nice toe poke.

This past Saturday, the 19th, he scored a great goal with his head, out-jumping four other Wigan defenders to score.

He then added another brilliant curling goal into the top left corner past a diving Chris Kirkland.

For the latter performance, he was named Man of the Match.

Along with all other Arsenal fans, I can only hope that his form stays where it is or gets even better. His talent is immense and growing game by game.

At the least, it certainly makes Arsene Wenger look like a genius for letting Kolo Toure leave.
