An interesting signing by Strikeforce. While Walker is a legit athlete and apparently has some relatively strong martial arts credentials, they are still skirting close to the line with this signing.

A lot of people may see this as a publicity stunt and call down Strikeforce for doing such a thing. Signing athletes that have been popular in other sports has generally not been taken well by MMA fans.

Just check out how the MMA community treated Jose Canseco if you want a recap on how that usually goes down.

Then again, Walker is a completely different animal. As the article mentions, he has legitimate credentials as martial artist and has some fight experience. And he is obviously no stranger to performing at a high athletic level.

At 47 years old, it remains to be seen whether he'll be able to beat anything other than inexperience up and comers. I, for one, will reserve judgement until we see how he performs.
