The five reasons Kevin Love will be better then Greg Oden.

1. He is a great leader on and off the court.

2. He faced better competition than Greg Oden did in college

3. He has a better shot and can shoot farther out on the court then Oden.

4. If he had a major injury, he would not risk it by playing basketball with his friends while he is still injured.

5. He is a better free-throw shooter and would not be a person to use the hac-a-shaq on in the game.

Those are my reasons Love will be better than Oden, thats my opinion now let me hear yours.

    Uhh, this is supposed to be an article, where you justify your claims not a NBA player card.
    Explain your reasoning for why he's gonna be better than Oden. I can't really give my opinion unless you give justifications first.

    I really don't know how to respond to this article. If Greg Oden has a healthy career, he will end up as one of the 7-8 Greatest centers of all time. He is a dominant defensive force in the middle, a rebounding machine and a solid offensive player. Kevin Love is going to be a good player, but he won't ever even make an all star appearance. Oden on the other hand will be a first ballot hall of famer.

    to Khalid he has a better shot and a better free throw shooter and also he will go to the bobcats who will have a double threat down with okefor and him down low. He will score alot of points because teams will double team okefor down low

      Yes, I mean one of the 7-8 greatest centers. I don't like or care for Oden because I am a die hard Laker fan and his Trailblazers are probably going to be the biggest obstacle to the Lakers in the next decade. If Oden is healthy, he will be better than Ewing and Walton at the minimum. Walton was way too injury prone and Ewing was an average rebounder and loser.

      To Eli: What I was inferring was that, Greg Oden was not seen play in the NBA, nor did Kevin Love even enter the league yet. So, I know it's your prediction, but please make it reasonable instead of just bashing some random arguments.

    did you not see oden shoot left handed in college because of a wrist injury and consistantly make his free throws?... kevin love may have played better competition in college, no one cares that he can make a full court shot because he will never do it in a game, hes under sized for his position... plus the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball when he was injured he was caught practicing.. maybe youve heard of him his name is michael jordan.. kevin may have a chance to be a little better than his dad at best unlike oden who will be the future of the nba if he stays healthy.

    As someone who has had watched nearly all of Oden's college games, I would have to disagree with your point's completely.

    #1) Oden not a leader? How so? He was an emotional leader who led by his play on the court. You don't have to be vocal to be a leader. Not only that, he represented OSU very well off the court, so I don't know where this comes from.
    #2) As far as competition goes, yes, UCLA had a very tough schedule, but what Oden and OSU went through wasnt exactly chopped liver: Florida twice, Wisconsin three times, Michigan State twice, Tennessee twice, Memphis, Georgetown, and Xavier.
    #3) Love may have a better shot with more range, but at no point in time has he showed the dominance down low that Oden did. Oden didn't need to show range, he got what he wanted under the basket. Also keep in mind, his strong hand was injured all season, so he was often using his left hand. In the end, Oden's and Love's game are different, so comparing them is ridiculous.
    #4) I don't see how this has much bearing on who the better player will be.
    #5) As someone above stated, did you watch Oden shoot free throws with his left hand? He shot a decent enough percentage with his off hand, I would have liked to have seen what he could have done with a healthy right wrist.

    I'm not saying Love can't be the better player, but better arguments could be made.

    I agree that Love will be better, at least offensively. Love projects as more of a power foward though, and for that reason they are hard to compare, as the things they bring to the table are very different.

    The type of game Love has does not tranfer to the NBA. He will no longer be able to back down players like he did at UCLA. His little shot wont be that affective. Love will turn out to be the next mimet okur.

    The ONLY chance there is of Love being better is if Oden is injury plagued his whole career. If both players are healthy, it won't even be close. Love will be a solid role player, but he simply does not have the physical gifts to be a star. He won't be able to score in the post, so his points will all come of pick-and-pop plays, and offensive rebounds, and he will be a defensive liability. Nobody with a clue would trade Oden for Love. Come on, you don't seriously think this do you?

    Eli.. i commend you for going out on a limb. but i'm having a hard time agreeing w/ you. first of all, how are you gonna question oden's leadership when love couldn't even "lead" his team to the ncaa finals?? was love even the leader of that ucla team? i'd make an argument for collison or ship as the leaders of that team. and why was defense/athleticism/strength not brought up?? that alone makes oden the better player than love.

    funny thing is.. if you put oden in this draft class, he would still be the #1 pick. let's do a poll.. and i can guarantee oden would go ahead rose or beasley, let alone kevin love.

    now your five points... people were saying the exact same thing back then about christian laettner. which has me thinking... =/

    *sigh*

    Well this was good for a laugh. GO was a "decent" foul shooter with his left hand, and after a year of doing nothing but rehabbing his knee and doing nothing for months but practice his shooting the consensus seems to be that the big fella has a pretty soft touch on the ball. But Greg's offense is neither here nor there, he's likely to get the majority of his points off of put backs, dunks and moves off of the low block, the especially nice thing is that he's got 6'11" LaMarcus Aldridge who is a natural high post player with range out to about 18 feet. He made Al Horford and Joakim Noah look like red-headed step children both on the defensive and offensive ends of the court in the National title game two years ago (too bad the rest of his team couldn't help him out).

    KL is a nice fundamental player and he'll probably have a decent if not solid NBA career, but he's pretty short and unathletic; a guy who is always going to have to rely on his shooting touch and skills to get the job done, and the jury is pretty much out whether or not he'll be able to do that against taller, quicker, and more talented bigs at the next level.

    If we put Love against the other PFs (he's too undersized to be a 5) and Oden against the other Centers in the league and do some guessing, I would still put my money on GO over the next 5+ yrs. I mean, none of Eli's 5 criteria will have anything to do with either player's NBA career at the end of the day. So, if the objective was to be controversial, Eli did it. If it was to be thought provoking and informative then it was a complete bust wiff. Love will be a very competent role player or man off the bench. Oden will, in all likelyhood, be a starting and franchise leading player.

    i disagree entirely.
    1) Love cant jump (enough said)
    2)Love will have alot of trouble playing the 5 and getting boards over guys who are Odens size.
    3)His technique will be dystroyed by good defenders in the NBA
