For those people scoring at home, what the Miami Hurricanes did against Georgia Tech is called sending a message.

Not a message that the Hurricanes are back to the glory days, because it wasn't exactly a dominant performance. Not that the Canes are ready to win the ACC either, because it really doesn't look like GT is the cream of the crop this year.

Rather, Miami showed that something that Hurricane fans have long been missing has returned in a big way. That's right...the swagger is back in Miami football.

Yes, with every over-the-top celebration for a loss of two yards and extra long camera shot at the entire second team defense mugging for the camera, that old feeling of the way Miami football should be is coming back.

Fans can send their thank-you notes to coach Randy Shannon and his staff, for understanding that Miami football players are different than the players you will find at any other school in the country.

Just like Texas players are gifted with the best names in the country (Dusty Mangum, Major Applewhite, Quentin Jammer, etc.) and Ohio State players have to look like the guys that beat you up in high school, the great Hurricanes have always had this "I'm better than you" confidence. A lot of other teams like to claim the same, but few have the legs to stand on that the Miami guys do.

Players like Jacory Harris don't just grow on trees, after all. There are a lot of quarterbacks out there across the country that are as good as Jacory, but few have the same mental makeup.

Take a handful of major college quarterbacks and ponder, if you will, their reaction to throwing a potentially game-changing interception. As great a player as Tim Tebow is, he's a fiery player and will probably show his displeasure on the sidelines. Josh Nesbitt on the other hand, if Thursday was any indication, will kind of just get sad.

Jacory, you ask? He'll react the same way your little brother did when you took a bite out of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"That's fine. I'll be back," he'd say, almost smiling as he walks away.

Then, an hour later, you find your bike tires have mysterious baseball bat sized welts in them. Just like little Billy, Jacory can make mistakes, but you'd better believe he knows that he'll have the last laugh.

It's players like Jacory, Graig Cooper, Sean Spence, Brandon Harris, etc. that made Miami relevant again, and it will be those same players that will get them back to where they once stood.

Be patient, Hurricane fans, they aren't back to 100 percent just yet.  If we learned one thing from this week though, it's that they're a lot closer than most people thought.
