As a true baseball fan, I am dead sick of people voting for the most popular players on the ballot.
In 2008, voting for the A-Rods and the Ichiros will undoubtedly be huge, while the Hamiltons and the Quentins of the world will get jipped out of a deserved spot on the All-Star rosters. Chances are that the AL lineup will look like this.
In parentheses is the person that should be there:
C: Jason Varitez, BOS (Joe Mauer, MIN)
1B: Kevin Youkilis, BOS (Kevin Youkilis, BOS)
2B: Robinson Cano, NYY (Ian Kinsler, TEX)
3B: Alex Rodriguez, NYY (Mike Lowell, BOS)
SS: Derek Jeter, NYY (Michael Young, TEX)
OF: Manny Ramirez, BOS (Manny Ramirez, BOS)
OF: Ichiro Suzuki, SEA (Josh Hamilton, TEX)
OF: Vladimir Guerrero, LAA (Magglio Ordonez, DET)
DH: David Ortiz, BOS (David Ortiz, BOS)
And the NL Lineup will look like this, with the person that should be there in parentheses.
C: Bengie Molina, SF (Geovany Soto, CHC or Brian McCann, ATL)
1B: Albert Pujols, STL (Lance Berkman, HOU or Derrick Lee, CHC)
2B: Chase Utley, PHI (Chase Utley, PHI or Dan Uggla, FLA)
3B: David Wright, NYM (Chipper Jones, ATL)
SS: Jose Reyes, NYM (Hanley Ramirez, FLA)
OF: Alfonso Soriano, CHC (Alfonso Soriano, CHC)
OF: Ken Griffey Jr., CIN (Ryan Braun, MIL)
OF: Matt Holliday, COL (Ryan Ludwick, STL)
So when you punch or click your ballots, look at the stats, NOT THE NAMES!
