Although free agent linebacker Derrick Brooks was linked to a couple teams over the past few weeks, he's still without a contract.

While the linebacker elected to suit up in a different way - with a microphone while sitting in a television studio - many feel this signifies the end of his playing days.

Brooks would disagree. He appeared on Chicago sports radio station WMVP-AM yesterday - according to the Chicago Tribune - saying,

"They really want to evaluate the guys that are there this weekend to give them an opportunity to step in and fulfill the loss of not having [Brian] Urlacher. ... I'm just grateful to be considered an option. If that's the case, I'll come in [and] do my best to fulfill whatever role they need me to fill in order to win."

Brooks didn't bite when asked if the Chicago Bears are the favorite.

"Multiple teams out there are very interested,"

Brooks said.

"Right now, the common denominator of all these options is they want to get through this weekend and see what their team looks like and revisit it early next week. I like them all."
