Remember Joe Maddon's 9=8? Nine players equals 1 of 8 play off teams. I still would like a 9=8 shirt..that's beside the point. Anyway, thinking of that, and the Cards 2009 playoff certain year it reminds me of many things in the 2006 season.
Rookie OF's: 2006- Chirs Duncan. 2009- Colby Rasmus. Both very solid rookie campaigns and legitimate ROTY candidates.
Pujols: 2006 49 homers. 2009- 47(so far). Another incredible Offensive season by Albert
Carpenter: 2006- Cy Young candidate. 2009- Cy Young candidate. Now '09 has been better but, playoffs will decide this one
Wainwright: 2006- made rave reviews as rookie closer. 2009- Serious Cy Young candidate.
The only things I can't plave to 2006 from 2009 is the injuries, and the last month breakdown(wich technically is still a possibility)
Just think though, with these comparisions it is hard to say the Cards can't go all the way. No one has there depth. Man I love it!
(Thank you to Nichole "Rasmus Girl" Geiger, I wrote this while listening to your song.)
