COLUMBUS, OH - SEPTEMBER 13: Head coach Jim Tressel of the Ohio State Buckeyes leaves the field after losing 18-15 to the Southern California Trojans on September 13, 2009 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)

Coach Tressel announced today that Jim Cordle will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks, which mean Shuggy Bear will get his chance.

If Shugarts shines, or merely plays well, it is likely that he will remain in the lineup all season.  Cordle is the most versatile lineman on the squad so he will be able to come back and play right guard ahead of Browning.

This is hardly a good development but the offense is in need of a jump start (as usual) and perhaps some young blood on the offensive line will help.  Also, Toledo and Illinois respective defenses couldn’t hurt either.
