NASCAR has never been very high up on my list of favorite racing series. There are a lot of reasons for this but the biggest is that it is the only sport in the world where superstars regularly demote themselves to a lower level to compete.

The reason the NASCAR Nationwide Series (formerly the Busch Series) was created to be a stepping stone for new drivers to make it to the top. Every other racing series and sports league has this too.

The IRL has the Indy Pro Series. The NBA has the D-League. This is all fine and dandy. NASCAR, however, is the only series where the best drivers demote themselves on purpose and on a regular basis to the lower level in order to compete.

How are the new guys supposed to win and make a name for themselves when people like Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, and Kyle Busch keep coming down and taking all the wins away from the new drivers who are in that league for a reason.

Its not like they need the practice.

They are three of the best drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Bowyer, who is leading the Nationwide in points, is fifth in the Sprint Cup. Why even race with the rookies if you are so successful at the top? It doesn't make sense. It would be like Kobe Bryant going play in the D-League on his off days. There is no need for it.

If I was in charge of NASCAR, I would not let drivers in the top 35 in points race in the Nationwide series. The big guns need to give the new guys the chance that they deserve to have.
