Sebastian Janikowski: an Analysis of the Oakland Raiders' Kicker

Jeremy KaufmanSenior Analyst IMay 26, 2008

1)     Kick Power: A

At 250 pounds, Sebastian has all the power he needs to put the ball through the goal posts.  With a career long field goal of 55 yards, Janikowski is clearly one of the most powerful kickers in the NFL today.

2)     Kick Accuracy: B

With a career field goal percentage of 76.8%, there certainly is something left to be desired in his accuracy.  However, because Janikowski is commonly utilized for some very difficult field goals, I did grant him some leniency in my rating.

3)     Kickoffs: A

With 107 career touchbacks, Janikowski clearly has the necessary power to blast the ball through the back of the end zone.  That’s about as much as you can ask for from a kicker on kickoffs.

4)     Clutch: B-

Consistency has been an issue for Janikowski in the past, which sometimes hinders his ability to come through in vital situations.  However, Sebastian certainly has the nerves to be a clutch kicker, and has come through with some big kicks in his career.

Overall: A-
