MLB Awards: Rodriguez, Rollins Earned the Hardware
IconIt's October, which means it's time to hand out MLB regular-season awards...

American League

MVP: Alex Rodriguez

This one's a no-brainer. The only question for A-Rod is how he'll perform in the postseason.

Cy Young: Josh Beckett

This one is surprisingly close for me.

I like C.C. Sabathia., but Beckett carried the Red Sox all year long. Schilling went down, and Dice-K was rocky at times—but Beckett stayed strong

World Series MVP and a Cy Young—not bad for a 27-year-old.

Rookie Of The Year: Dustin Pedroia

Great numbers, and he clutched up when asked.

Pedroia hit .317 for the year, and the only argument against him could be that he had Big Papi batting behind him. I see no negative there. Pedroia played as big as anyone all year long.

National League

MVP: Jimmy Rollins

Besides the history-making 20-20-20-20 numbers, he was the main man in the Phillies lineup for the entire season.

Ryan Howard struggled early and set the strikeout record, and Chase Utley got hurt—but J-Roll took the Phillies to the playoffs.

For that, he gets my vote.

Cy Young: Jake Peavy

Peavy led the NL in wins, and unless he gets bombed tomorrow he'll win the ERA title too.

He can cap off a great season by taking his team to the playoffs—set up for a defining career moment,

Rookie Of The Year: Ryan Braun

Put up huge numbers in less than a full season. Shouldn't be punished for his team failing to make postseason—that was far from his fault.

That's all from me—let me here feedback if there's anyone I missed...
