10. Matt Ryan: Matt Ryan was amazing in his first season in the NFL, leading Atlanta to an incredible 11-win season. Now he has Tony Gonzalez as another weapon, last season he threw 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in the regular season plus he managed to take his team to the playoffs.

09. Carson Palmer: Two years ago he was fighting for the number one spot but now he is coming off an elbow injury that limited him to just four games in 2008. He gained Laveranues Coles as a new receiver but lost T.J. Houshmandzadeh to Seattle, with Chad Johnson and Chris Henry there too, Palmer still has enough talent around him to do well.

Last year he threw for 731 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions and also ran six times for 38 yards with one lost fumble.

08. Jay Cutler: He threw for 4,525 yards, completing 62 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, and also ran two touchdowns with the Broncos last years. He was ready to be the franchise icon… until Mike Shanahan was fired and Cutler asked for a trade that ended up with him in Chicago. With the exception of Matt Forte, Cutler doesn’t have a real weapon in the Bears’ offense but he's still a great QB with arguably the best arm on the game.

07. Phillip Rivers: Rivers led the Chargers to the Divisional Playoffs. He completed 65.3 pct of his passes for 4,009 yards, 34 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Rivers also had 4 fumbles lost. He still has a nice receivers unit with WRs Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers along with TE Antonio Gates and RB Ladainian Tomlinson. Rivers just signed a 6-year, $92 million contract extension with the Chargers, with approximately $38 million guaranteed.

06. Tony Romo: Romo managed to connect for 3,448 yards with 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season while missing three games with a broken finger on his throwing hand. He doesn’t have Terrell Owens by his side anymore (good or bad?) but now he has to decide between Jason Witten and Marion Barber to be his first choice, which isn’t all that bad. He has quick feet and can throw in motion which not all quarterbacks can do.

05. Drew Brees: He threw for over 5,000 yards in a season in 2008, joining Dan Marino as the only two QBs in NFL history to accomplished that, Brees had 34 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, all on 413 of 635 passing for 5,069 yards. Marques Colston and Lance Moore should be his number one targets but keep in mind that he has Reggie Bush and Jeremy Shockey as well.

04. Donovan McNabb: McNabb topped 500 passing attempts in 2008. He completed 60.4 of his passes for 3,916 yards with 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and played all 16 games for the first time in 5 years. Brian Westbrook and DeSean Jackson must be his favorite targets. The down side is that McNabb is not getting any younger.

03. Ben Roethlisberger: He’s not a top five in most of the expert rankings but can you really be that picky with a guy that knows how to win when it matters? Big Ben threw 256 passing yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers vs Arizona Cardinals game plus the game winning touchdown to Santonio Holmes in the 2008 Super Bowl.

He played with a separated shoulder, and he also played on despite suffering a concussion late in the season. At the regular season he ended up with 3,301 yards, 17 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 101 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

He doesn’t put any big numbers but when you realize he has two Super Bowl rings and Payton Manning just has one, you begin to understand why his third on my list.

02. Peyton Manning: Manning had another outstanding season in 2008 despite starting the year with a knee injury. He finished with 4,002 yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. This was the first time Manning had less than 30 touchdowns since 2005 and yet he still he won the MVP award. He no longer has Marvin Harrison as his lethal weapon but still has Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez and Dallas Clark. He could be number one in any list, but his lack of confidence to win big games makes him second in my ranking.

01. Tom Brady: Despite missing the whole 2008 season after a knee injury at the first game against Kansas City you can expect some solid stats once he gets back to being comfortable in the game he dominated in 2007. Brady still has his favorites WR Randy Moss and Wes Welker and he’s basically number one because no one else has more rings than him, plus I’ll bet he’s hungry after a the 2007 Super Bowl upset by the Giants. Tom Brady's odds to win the Super Bowl are +450 at BetUS.com. I will be betting on Tom Brady.
