The day has come to see one of Toronto's great Reds leave the game, although it was done abruptly and spontaneously.

Toronto FC is setting a news conference for the morning of Wednesday, September 9 to announce the retirement of forward Danny Dichio. However, a new member will drape the red and white to replace Dichio.

It was confirmed in the offices at Toronto's BMO Field that Dichio will leave the team and the sport of professional soccer. Some people say the move is pushed upon Dichio from TFC's high chairman Mo Johnson, with word on a new signing from across the Atlantic.

Canadian-born mid-fielder, Julian de Guzman is signing with Toronto in hopes to spark a MLS championship sooner than expected. Johnson still had the offer on the table for the 28 year-old, with his unsuccessful negotiations with a few interested Spanish Liga clubs.

Guzman played the last five years for Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruna with only one goal in his last 95 appearances. But, Guzman is not a natural goal scorer, he provides TFC with speed up the middle, a good pass-completion percentage and experience in pressured situations.

Head coach Chris Cummins has an issue now. Who is Guzman replacing or is Cummins switching their formation?

Until Guzman arrives back to Canada, we can't raise questions. However, all Reds fans should wave goodbye to one of Toronto's finest players and player chants, Danny Dichio.
