LSU to Open 2009 Football Season in Pac-10 Country

The LSU Tigers announced that they will open the 2009 season against Washington in Seattle.

The two teams are set to meet on Sept. 5, 2009 in Husky Stadium.

This meeting will mark only the second time these two teams have met on the gridiron. The unranked Tigers defeated the ninth ranked Huskies 40-14 in Tiger Stadium in 1983.

The Tigers are no strangers to the Pac-10 in recent years.

The Tigers beat the Arizona Wildcats in Arizona 59-13 in 2003 before claiming their first BCS National Championship.

Additionally, the Tigers opened the 2004 season with a 22-21 overtime victory over Oregon State in Baton Rouge. LSU opened the 2005 season (because of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina) with a 35-31 victory over Arizona State in Tempe. And, the Tigers also posted a 45-3 victory over Arizona in Tiger Stadium in 2006.

LSU is 12-3 all-time against the Pac-10 and 2-0 under Les Miles.
