There's a reason why Nebraska will celebrate its 300th consecutive sell-out on Sept. 26, 2009. The Husker pregame show is one of the best in the country. There's a buzz in the air, hip music, and a sea of red that rocks Memorial Stadium and Tom Osborne Field. What are the top five pregame events at a Nebraska game?
The Pride of All Nebraska
Whether they play "Hail Varsity" or "There is No Place Like Nebraska," the Pride of All Nebraska—the NU marching band—rocks the house! Their entrance to the field changes from a slow swing to a spirited run.
Spirit Squad & Scarlets
Chants of "Go Big Red" and "Husker Power" echo throughout Memorial Stadium. And the Scarlets shake their groove thang to toe-tapping music.
The Flyover
The Star Spangeled Banner finishes and the South stadium begins to roar!
Look overhead!
It's a bird, no. It's members of the Armed Forces flying high—or, in some instances—swooshing down on Memorial Field. BlackHawk helicopters, bi-planes, or Stealth bombers: Husker fans love them all!
The Student Section
The student section jump-starts the spirit around the stadium. Whether they save the Nebraska flag, start the wave, or spell N-E-B-R-A-S-K-A on their shirtless chests, the students bleed red.
The Tunnel Walk (and All That Implies)
The band plays, the armed forces fly over, and the jumbo HD Husker Vision screens and runners fade to black. Cue the music and let the tunnel walk video begin.
And the crowd goes wild!
Whether the championship trophies fly across the state and land on Tom Osborne field or there's a countdown of the amazing history that celebrates Husker tradition, the tunnel walk and players' entrance to the field takes away the spectators' breath!
