Hello everyone. As always, I would like to thank you again for spending some time with me today.
Through out the history of pro wrestling there have been many great moments. You can watch many of these moments on TV. You can also read about them in a book or article.
I have always felt the best way to see a great moment is through a picture. Maybe it’s because for a brief second you are capturing a true feeling. It also seems a lot more sincere when you look at a photo.
So I decided to put together a slide show of a few special moments in wrestling’s great history. I hope that the moments I am showing captured do these great wrestlers justice.
So sit back relax and enjoy the show.
A picture worth a thousand words
These two wrestlers have a great history together. In WCW, they were staples in a highly acclaimed cruiserweight division. They would eventually leave WCW and head over to the WWE.
During there time in the WWE, they would have a lot of up and downs. One night though at MSG, they would share a moment long remembered.
At Wrestlemania 20, both Benoit and Guerrero would both become the heavyweight champion. The night would be end with both of them celebrating in the middle of the ring.
In a way it was a proper celebration for these two, who fought so hard to earn the respect of the wrestling world.
Throughout Ric Flair's long career, it is safe to say there were many great moments. This could be considered one of his greatest, though.
He and HBK would have a match that will never be forgotten. In this match if Flair lost, he would have to retire. It was a well-fought battle that would end in Flair hanging up his boots.
While most knew Flair would wind up losing this match, it still didn’t take away from the magic of it. Afterwards, they would capture Flair in one of his most emotional moments ever.
While I don’t remember this match specifically, I can safely say that this picture can summarize HHH's wrestling career. If there is one thing that HHH is, he is tough.
He has given his mind, heart, body and soul for this business. I think that it is only proper that he gets his respects paid to him. I recall a few of HHH's many battles.
The one that sticks out the most in my mind is his battles with the Undertaker. He has had many great foes, though. Over the years, he has duked it out with many greats like Stone Cold, Jericho, and The Rock.
That is the only way to describe the look on Bret Hart's face in this picture. This look would be one that would be frozen in time forever. It is, after all, a look of Bret Hart right after the infamous screw job.
I’m sure most of you know the story of the screw job by now. In case you were living under a rock though; it was the night Vince screwed Hart out of the title.
Afterward, Bret Hart would proceed to not only spit on Vince; he would also lay him out in the back of the dressing room after the match. It is a match that will be remembered forever in WWE history.
While some of the younger fans may not realize it. This match would change the landscape for pro wrestling. In the Pontiac Silverdome over 90,000 people packed the house to see this match.
During the build up of the match it was touted that Hogan would never be able to slam Andre. When all was said and done though, Hogan would shock the world by slamming the big guy.
It was also special for a couple other reasons. For starters it was the official passing of the torch for Hogan. It was also special though because Andre would wrestle this match hurt and could barely walk.
Kurt Angle as of late has received a lot of bad press. While the reasoning maybe good for the negativity, it still doesn’t change what this great wrestler accomplished.
In 1996, during the Summer Games, he won two gold medals for the U.S. He would go on to accomplish this great feat with an almost broken neck.
It is safe to say that Angle may have some personal issues. I would find it hard for any one to question his toughness, though.
If there are any wrestlers who should never have their hearts questioned, it would be hardcore wrestlers.
These guys would give every ounce of blood in their bodies to put on a good match.
Guys like Foley and Funk are legends in the hardcore world. There are many others who put their bodies through hell and go unrecognized.
Whether it’s a barbed wire match, scaffold match, or glass match, you know one thing after it’s done. Both men will leave the match bloodied, bruised, and scarred for life.
What can anyone say about Chris Jericho other than great? This man has been one of the best in-ring competitors I have ever seen. He prides himself on making a match a classic.
Over the years, he has had classic matches with HHH, the Rock, and Angle. He is a consummate professional who has always done right for the business.
He has the ability to make anyone look good in the ring. When Jericho does decide to retire from wrestling, he will be sorely missed by everyone.
Over the years, Vince McMahon has found many ways to make spectacle of him self. To me the "Kiss my a$$" club was by for the worst thing I ever saw. I don’t know if it is possible to degrade anyone worse then this.
Every time I saw these tasteless skits, I cringed in disgust. I never could understand how any wrestler would let this be done to them. Sadly, there is a long list involved in this exclusive club.
Over the years, Stone Cold Steve Austin is remembered for a lot of things. He loved drinking his beer and he also on occasion would ask you what time it was.
What I remember most about Stone Cold, was his ability to take a lickin' and keep on ticking. He has been involved in some of the most controversial moments in wrestling history.
The picture you see above you is probably his most famous one though. In that match he wrestled Bret Hart in a modern-day classic. It was this match that would change Stone Cold's career forever.
