Chipper Jones: Looking to Achieve Statistic Not Reached Since 1941
Chipper Jones has been the face of the Atlanta Braves franchise since 1993.
He won a World Series in 1995 and a MVP award in 1999. He is a five time All-Star and he is a two-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award. He has also hit 398 career home-runs.
However, the one statistic that Jones is looking to accomplish this season might be the one statistic that would stand out the most for him personally.
That statistic would be to have a season batting average at or above .400.
You have to go all the way back to 1941 to find that Ted Williams was the last person to accomplish this feat.
As of May 21, 2008, Chipper is batting .410 and is leading the Braves in most offensive categories.
With nearly two months of play complete, eyes will be watching as Chipper Jones looks to reach the .400 mark.
