Update from Thursday's practice: The Wings said forward Johan Franzen (concussion-like symptoms) has been cleared to practice with the team Friday.

Franzen worked out in the training room Thursday and took a brief spin on the ice after practice for the second straight day. He's not expected to play in Game 1 Saturday

"He's going to be available,'' Babcock said. "I don't know at what point. I don't think in Game 1, but at (some point) after that.''

He added: "He's ready to go. He's just got to get the OK (from doctors).''

Said general manager Ken Holland: "Same as yesterday. No headaches, feels pretty good. Had him see a doctor today, we haven't gotten the report back.

Day-to-day, he's doubtful for Game 1. The hope is he's going to be ready sometime in the series. No one has said to me he'll be ready to go. He's working out, no setbacks.''

Kris Draper's wife, Julie, delivered the couple's third child, a girl they named Carmen Rose. Draper will return to practice tomorrow.

Valtteri Filppula, bothered by a sore knee, didn't practice.

Chris Chelios, who the team said didn't play the last game becuase of a sore leg, practiced.

Babcock said he hadn't decided if there would be any lineup changes for Game 1.
