Nebraska Huskers Should Look for a Return to Old School Style Against FAU

As we look ahead to Saturdays game against Florida Atlantic, the recipe for a Husker victory seems pretty clear to me.

A return to the old school Husker style is definitely in order.

This can only mean one thing. Run the football.

The Owls have only three returning starters on defense and most of that experience is in the secondary.

Among the departed are the Owls top six tacklers, Including all three linebackers. Add to this the fact that Andy Czuprnyski, the teams starting tackle, will sit out the game due to injury and I see the Owls getting a heavy dose of Nebraska's Doak Walker watch list member Roy Helu Jr.

Besides the inexperience of Nebraska quarterback Zac Lee, the experience and talent of cornerbacks Tarvoris Hill, Tavious Polo and Eric McIntosh should only serve to give the Huskers more reason to pound the rock.

Leading an offense that averaged 25.1 points per game last year is fifth-year Senior quarterback Rusty Smith.

At 6'5" and 230 pounds, Smith looks like a prototypical NFL quarterback and he has the arm strength to match.

Also, FAU has a deep and experienced receiving core lead by speedster Cortez Gent and three supurb tight ends, Jason Harmon, Jamari Grant and Rob Housler.

Once again pointing to the fact that Nebraska needs to run the ball and have long sustained drives to eat the clock and keep the FAU offense off the field.

A return to the good old days should be fun to watch.
