Alabama Football: Star Jackson Named Back-Up QB

Jimmy RenoCorrespondent ISeptember 3, 2009

Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced late yesterday evening that redshirt freshman Star Jackson had been named as the back-up QB to junior Greg McElroy.

I think Star has done a good job," Saban said. "If we had an opportunity to play him, if it presents itself, I think we would play him and see how he does. He doesn't have a lot of experience. Neither does Thomas Darrah.

"I'm not going to get into comparing guys, but Star has made a lot of improvement and a lot of progress. We just need to see where he's at."

Jackson had been battling walk-on Thomas Darrah for the spot.
