The Mariners defeated the Angels last night in a entertaining 2-1 contest. But, all eyes will be on the match up today when newly acqiured lefthander takes on King Felix himself. Not exactly who Scott wants to draw in his first start.

Felix Hernandez (13-5) has posted up 6 straight quality starts after a less then successful start against the Toronto Blue Jays early in August when he gave up 7 runs in 5 innings. Combined Felix has a ERA of 2.77, 185 IP, 179 K's and a impressive 3.25 K/BB ratio.

Scott Kazmir (8-7) has not had a year that he wants to remember, he has a ERA in the 5.00's but over his last 6 starts 5 of them have been quality. Combined this year Scott has a ERA of 5.92, 111 IP, 91 K's and a 1.82 K/BB ratio.

It seems as if both are old crafty veterans because they have been around so long but Kazmir is only 25 and Felix is only 23. Both talented hurlers have been around the block and know what it takes to compete at this level.

For Felix he has to help the Mariners end the year above .500% and trying to earn that Cy Young Award wouldn't hurt him either.

Kazmir is just trying to prove he hasn't lost his magic touch, since his surgery a couple of years ago Kaz has posted a ERA of 4.57 in 47 starts. A far cry from combined 3.67 the previous 4 seasons.

This should be a good duel with these two young phenoms.
