The Rangers have had many players step up and fill in gaps many of times this year.

Michael Young, although having a rough time at the beginning of the season, he has turned into an unbelievable 3rd baseman. Young sits currently at a batting average of .325  and is sitting 6th in the league. He moved to 3rd base after a 20 year old rookie Elvis Andrus proved to John Daniels his professionalised experience at the shortstop position.

Michael Young has 45 more hits than Marlon Byrd who has the 2nd most hits on the team. He is 2nd in doubles with 35 behind Byrd's 39. Young is 4th on the team in home-runs with 22. Young is 2nd on the team in R.B.I. with 67 behind Ian Kinsler's 77. Young has 42 more total bases than Kinsler with 231 who sits 2nd. Young has 44 walks on the team which sits him in 2nd.

Young continually, astonishes fans of the M.L.B. with performances that put him in the All-star Game every year. Young is a Prime candidate for the Rangers M.V.P. in the 2009 season.
