Brandon Vera Denies Krzysztof Soszynski The Truth

Going into his UFC 102 fight with Krzysztof Soszynski, Brandon "The Truth" Vera knew he had to prove that he still is a factor in the UFC. Now what type of factor that may be is up for debate, but Vera proved to many fans that he is still a considerable threat inside the cage.

The match started with a quick flurry from "The Polish Experiment", connecting with a few shots. This appeared to awaken Vera as he fired back with a wickedly-strong body kick.

There was speculation that the body kick may have injured Soszynski, as he was noticeably tentative and less aggressive. Now whether or not this was true, the pace for the rest of the fight was established.

Vera controlled the stand-up, landing powerful left hands over and over. He dominated in the clinch, punishing Soszynski with thigh-bruising knees. Vera's sprawl was almost perfect and Soszynski's ground game was all but nullified.

Vera appeared happy after his unanimous decision victory, but he knows that there is still much to be approved upon. Vera will obviously look for a step-up in competition, looking to prove himself once again among the UFC faithful.

If Vera is able to defeat an opponent with the caliber of Luiz Cane, Jon Jones, or even the originally-scheduled opponent of Matt Hammill, he may very well get past the gate-keeping label that's been slapped on his back.
