Welcome back to another edition of the MAC-Attack! The season is fast approaching and our tour of MAC football is nearing the end just in time. Today we examine the Ohio University Bobcats from Athens, OH. Temple and Toledo fans keep your eyes peeled!
2008 Record: 3-5 (4-8)
Key Losses:
- LB Michael Brown
- LB Chris Hall
- S Michael Mitchell
- CB Mark Parson
2009 Key Games:
- Connecticut (Home, Sept. 5)
- Buffalo (Away, Nov. 10)
- Temple (Home, Nov. 27)
Analysis:
In 2008 the Ohio Bobcats lost several close games due to turnovers. However the 2009 forecast looks to be little brighter in that department. The offense is returning quarterback Boo Jackson, running backs Christ Garrett and Donte Harden, and wide outs Taylor Price and LaVon Brazill from the '08 campaign. The only hitch offensively speaking is the offensive line.
Defense was the corner stone of the '08 Bobcats. However the '09 roster will be missing a few key players from last season. Linebackers Michael Brown and Chris Hall were experienced players and should be difficult to replace. The Bobcats also lost shutdown corner Mark Parson and safety Michael Mitchell. Although not impossible to overcome, the defense will have to fill these holes especially if the offense turns the ball over frequently.
Bottom Line:
Ohio has a fairly easy schedule and a lot of returning talent. Look for the Bobcats to reach a bowl game this season and maybe even challenge for the MAC East title.
Predicted 2009 Record: 6-2 (8-4)
