The Spurs one more time showed that experience does count. They trailed after three quarters in the three previous games in New Orleans, but in Game 7 they showed they could handle the second half as champs.
Manu Ginobili scored a game-high 26 points. He was 10-of-11 on free throws, and had five assists and five rebounds. In the final minute, he hit four free throws, sending the Spurs to the Western Conference finals.
Tony Parker added 17 points, including the last crucial jumper in the final minute. With this victory, the Spurs became the first team in this series to win on the road.
For many people, New Orleans was the favourite in this series, but the Spurs as the "boring team, and dirt" as they are usually called, played like champions, and ended the Hornets' dream with a 91-82 victory.
The Spurs bench also came big, including five offensive rebounds by Kurt Thomas, and threes by Ime Udoka, Michael Finley and the controversial veteran Robert Horry.
Tim Duncan, shooting just 5-of-17 from the field, added 16 points. He didn't miss a free throw (6-of-6) and had 14 rebounds.
J. Pargo scored seven straight, including four free throws and some threes. He finished with 18 points, most of them in the 4th quarter.
With 1:50 minutes, Pargo made another three to cut the lead to three points. Stojakovic missed a 3-pointer after coming out from timeout while Tyson Chandler was wide open. It was all about defense.
Spurs won, but give the young Hornets credit for all that they had done this season. They were just super.
While CP3 and D. West are fishin' with Kenny, another huge battle is about to begin in L.A.
!!!!!!!!!!GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!!
