Think Cotto Will Be An Easy Fight For Pac, Here Is What Roach Thinks...

“Cotto is going to be the toughest fight, and anyone who says that it’s going to be easy is a f_____ idiot!”  This is exactly what Roach told a reporter (
http://www.fightnews.com/?p=21571#more-21571).

Roach wants Manny to avoid a training camp in the Philippines, due to a likely barrage of distractions. Instead, Freddie wants Pacquiao to train in the mountains of Mexico, where high elevation along with limited population will provide better focus. Pacman on the other hand, is insisting on doing it at home. Never have I heard anyone question Roach or his approach and strategy.

I have seen Freddie be upset, or straight forward, but I have never seen him worried. His personality is generally very reserved, without the cause for swearing, name calling or shouting. This time, Roach seems cautious, upset and annoyed. This is a first, and there must be an underlying reason. If I was going to give that reason a name, I would call it Cotto.

It seems to me, as though Pacman has outgrown his reserved self, and is now becoming a little bit arrogant, and self absorbed. He won some great fights, and most with some degree of ease and domination. This in turn, causes what is known as the Napoleon Complex, where a person's self esteem (whether high or low) causes them to feel in charge and invincible.

Roach doesn't like it. He doesn't think that Cotto is coming to lose. He sees a very dangerous fighter in the Miguel, and the skills/power he is carrying with him are not to be overlooked. Can Cotto knock Pacman out? Personally, I think yes. Most will say no. Roach? Well Roach is a tad scared and a bit upset. His best student is starting to get cocky, at the worst possible time.

Cotto packs a punch. He can go toe to toe, and can also fire from distance. He can counter, and hewill counter. He is a bigger guy, with a good chin, and decent stamina. This is by far Cotto's most important fight, with the most value at stake. Cotto will come prepared, with a strategy and bad intention.

I would like to stress that this piece is not about the shortfalls of Pacquiao, or Roach's character, or even Cotto, it's about the severity of the situation, and the potentiality of this fight.

Seems as though this may very well be a future Classic! It might be included on  Classic Fights DVDs in the future. This has already been stated by Stoker, and now may very well be confirmed by Roach.

Thanks For Reading.
