Michel Platini admitted he would dived to win a penalty, in an article written by Andrew Slevison for Tribal Football, today. Now, if we lived in a perfect world, he would be branded a cheat but alas we are in a controversial sport where heroes and cheats ply their trade together. All of them wanted to win for their very own reasons.

Eduardo was condemned and assume to have dived even before it was proven beyond reasonable doubt. He could have fell, tripped or dived away from the goalie to avoid a collision. This routine happening is being blown out of proportion by the Scottish Football Association's Chief executive, Gordon Smith adding his weight behind the call to ban Eduardo. It is basically a storm in the tea cup because the penalty is not significant to the end result of the encounter. I think the SFA should look beyond this Eduardo issue by using her influence to call for electronic aids to assist referees to make correct decisions.

UEFA and FIFA must understand this type of controversy will continued if they do not used electronic aids. Cases of the ball having crossed the goalline, handballs, diving, offside and spitting are just some routine incidents which can all be eradicated by simply installing electronic cameras. Old establishments like Wimbledon Tennis Club have progressed with electronic aids where players can make challenges to see replay of a point. In football, there are 22 players on the field, isn't it time to install electronic aids ?

Does UEFA and FIFA still believe human beings are sharper and have better eyesight or perhaps they silently condone controversies to make the football interesting !
