The drama around the young talent will soon be over. FC Barcelona and DKV Joventut ("La Penya") have agreed on a €3.5M transfer fee.
The Blaugrana were keen on signing Rubio, who had been in the eye of a storm that involved the T'Wolves, the NBA and many European sides.
The young player from Badalona is now on a training camp with the Spanish national team which is preparing itself for this year's Eurobasket in Poland.
When interviewed by Catalonia's leading sports newspaper, Rubio said:
"I'm happy that this is going to be over!"
The deal will consist in a six-year contract with the possibility of a NBA "bail-out option" after the second year. The value of the clause will lower year after year, which means the longer Rubio plays with Barça, the less he'll have to pay for an eventual departure.
With this signing, "el Blaugrana" concluded a roster upgrade that seeks the conquest of the long-awaited Euroleague title.
