This is a sight that Everton fans have been waiting for far too long to see.
Tuesday night saw Toffee’s Nigerian striker Ayegbeni Yakubu make his long awaited return from injury as the forward took part in Everton’s reserve match with Burnley. And, after being out of action for ten months after rupturing his Achilles at Tottenham, the evening could hardly have gone better for the Yak as the forward needed just 30 seconds to get himself back on the scoresheet.
Yakubu then went from finisher to provider five minutes later, teeing-up Dan Gosling for a simple chance to double Everton’s advantage from 12 yards, while American striker Cody Arnaux put the gloss on the scoreline late in the game with a smart finish.
Highlights of Yakubu’s return to action against Burnley can be seen here.
