sportslogos.netArsenal posted a very solid performance last night against an experienced Newcastle squad.

The win is even more impressive given that the average age of the lineup was only 19—down from a typical average age of about 23.

After impressive starts in the Premiership, the Champions League, and the Carling Cup, the Gunners are riding high. Some critics say that an injury to a key player would sink the ship—but the win against Newcastle gives plenty of reason for confidence.

Alex Song (20), Lukasz Fabianski (22), Nicklas Bendter (19), Emmanuel Eboue (23), and Armand Traore (18) all impressed last night. The fact that a group of near-teenagers—some of them playing in their first games—beat a top-eight team proves that Arsenal have the makings of a title-winning side.

Arsene Wenger won't let these young players go, and Arsenal fans have a great future to look forward to.

With a winning club and a deep side—to say nothing of a 70-million-pound budget—Mr. Wenger must be a very happy man.

I for one can't wait for the day he gets his hands on the Champions League and Premiership titles once more.
