It's been just over one full year since Mike Leach and Company's recruiting class of 2008 officially stepped foot on campus. Some didn't make it in, some didn't make it a full year.

Of the 16 high school seniors and junior college transfers, only 11 still remain (assuming Brandon Sesay doesn't pull off a miracle). So here's a rundown on what they're doing, or where they are...

K Donnie Carona - Beaumont, TX (Kelly)

Carona appeared in eveyr game for Texas Tech as the kickoff specialist as well as the kicker. Carona was only successful on 4-of-9 field goal attempts, missing four of his first five attempts, eventually giving up kicking duties to former fan Matt Williams. Carona spent the spring and summer working on his punting skills, battling with walk on Ryan Erxleben to cover the first six games in place of suspended punter Jonathan LaCour.

S Cody Davis - Stephenville, TX (Stephenville)

Davis, a two-time 4A All-State selection, redshirted during the 2008 campaign. After the departure of five safeties from the 2008 team, Davis is slotted to take over one of the starting roles in the defensive backfield alongside Jr. Franklin Mitchem.

DE McKinner Dixon - Lufkin, TX (Cisco JC)

Dixon (pictured) spent the 2005 season with the Red Raiders, receiving Freshman All-American honors from The Sporting News. However, he was far from Academic All-American. After a two-year stint at Cisco Junior College in Cisco, Texas, Dixon returned to the Red Raiders in grand fashion.

Splitting time with 2008 Big 12 Sack Leader Brandon Williams and Jake Ratliff, Dixon amassed nine sacks over the course of the year. Unfortunately, Dixon repeated his academic performance from 2005-06 and once again found himself ineligible, deciding to give up his final year in favor of a failed attempt at the NFL Supplemental Draft.

QB Seth Doege - Wolfforth, TX (Frenship)

Doege, who redshirted in 2008, has not played in a game since his sophomore season in high school in Crane, Texas. After transferring closer to Lubbock, Doege suffered a pair of torn ACLs before his junior and senior seasons. For 2009, Doege is currently losing the battle to be Taylor Potts' backup to Jr. Steven Sheffield.

ATH Cornelius Douglas - Lawton, OK (Lawton)

Douglas, another redshirt, is currently battling for a spot at the H Inside Receiver position with Adam James and Tramain Swindall.

DE Joey Fowler - Oklahoma City, OK (Westmoore)

Fowler redshirted in 2008 before being dismissed from the team for rules violations. Fowler transferred to the University of Central Oklahoma to play football.

OT Deveric Gallington - North Richland Hills, TX (Richland)

Gallington redshirted in 2008 and is currently the second-string right guard for 2009.

DE Ryan Haliburton - Wolfforth, TX (Frenship)

Redshirted in 2008, Haliburton is fighting to get playing time in 2009 behind a large group of experienced seniors at DE.

RB Harrison Jeffers - Lawton, OK (Eisenhower)

After redshirting in 2008, Jeffers has benefited from a run of bad luck for the other running backs. Originally considered to be the third back, Jeffers has now shot to the top of the depth chart thanks to the injuries suffered by Baron Batch and Aaron Crawford.

OT Joe King - Oklahoma City, OK (Putnam City North HS)

Currently sitting third on the depth chart at right guard behind Mickey Okafor and Gallington, King redshirted last season.

DT Broderick Marshall - Austin, TX (Tyler JC)

Marshall failed to qualify during his first go round in 2006, and repeated history in 2008, becoming the only member of the class that didn't make it into Texas Tech. Marshall found himself up the road in Canyon, Tex., playing for Don Carthel's West Texas A&M Buffaloes, starting at DT in 2008.

OT Terry McDaniel - Diana, TX (New Diana)

McDaniel, a redshirt freshman, is battling for the starting left tackle spot with sophomore Chris Olson.

LB/RB Brandon Reid - El Paso, TX (Canutillo)

Reid, a late add to the 2008 class, was promised a shot at RB by the staff, although he was also slotted to play LB. The staff avoided the hard decision after Reid failed to maintain his academic eligibility and was removed from the team.

CB Jarrell Routt - Texas City, TX (Coffeyville CC)

Routt, another member of the 2006 class, spent two seasons in Kansas before finally making it to Lubbock. Routt, unfortunately is buried deep on the depth chart at CB in 2009.

DE Brandon Sesay - Atlanta, GA (College of the Sequoias)

Sesay's inclusion in the 2008 class was a huge step for the coaching staff. A highly touted JUCO player, Sesay was expected to make splashes on the defensive line because of his size and ability. As with most JUCO players who step foot on campus, Sesay is battling eligibility issues due to grades after making a minimal impact in 2008. There is no solid word yet on whether Sesay will be a Red Raider in 2009.

WR Austin Zouzalik - Lubbock, TX (Coronado)

After a late switch by another recruit, the staff found themselves with an extra scholarship days before signing day. Luckily, Austin Zouzalik, a quarterback and athlete at Coronado High School in Lubbock, was ready to accept. In a story eerily similar to the Wes Welker Chronicle, Zou is primed to make quite the run toward repeating history. Now an inside receiver at the Y-slot, Zouzalik is expected to disrupt defenses with his speed and hands. He has also practiced returning kicks.

So there you have it, the whereabouts of 2008's recruiting class. Five players gone, six in the two-deep and three possible starters. Quite a feat for only one season in the system.
