Sporting events have a tendency to grow. They start out being shown at awkward time of the day in between some unpopular programming. With time, if things go well and the sport picks up on audience, it moves up to primetime, paid channels, and finally PPV.
Up until now, boxing’s biggest events were shown on PPV as well as special closed circuit reserved big screen locations in Las Vegas. Soon, all this will change. Boxing is the only sport so far, which has made it to the real big screen: Movie theatres in HD.
Mayweather vs. Marquez event, will be shown in selected movie theatres in high definition, according to Fightnews.com, and confirmed by me on the theatre website. Tickets will be $15 for the whole PPV event.
It is important that this is a great deal, because we get a huge HD screen for a fraction of the PPV price. But more importantly, we have grown friends. We have outgrown all other sports in the public PPV event numbers. Boxing is now officially the first and only sport to hit the cinemas.
If the numbers of this event show promising, we may soon see all our PPV events in the theatres. This is very exciting, because it will be the closest thing to being at the fight: hundreds of people will gather in one place to watch the fight. Fans from all over the region will show up wearing shirts of their favorite boxer, and the crowd will react to every move they see before their eyes in crystal quality.
Congratulations gentlemen, boxing is yet again on a rise!
Thank You
