Juan Martin Del Potro: The Big Man
I rarely enjoy power tennis, I rarely enjoy double-handed backhands, and I rarely enjoy individuals posing a threat to Roger Federer.
Yet I relish the opportunity to watch Juan Martin Del Potro.
Federer sits as the clear favorite for the US Open, 6/4 on, which is not surprising. What I do find surprising, however, is the rudeness of petty bookmakers.
They put Murray, Nadal, and Djokovic ahead of the Argentine for a shot at the title, which I find ridiculous.
Besides his inexplicably awesome name, Juan Martin Del Potro has the biggest game in men's Tennis at the moment. It may not be the best or the smoothest, but it is by far the most dangerous.
On his day the Argentine could hit through any of the top four.
No matter how little or how much time Rafa had on court last week, it wouldn't have made a difference in the quarterfinal outcome in Montreal.
Del Potro played by far some of the most awesome tennis I've seen in years, and if it wasn't for exhaustion he would have beaten Murray in the final.
I hereby make a prediction that by the end of next year, Juan Martin Del Potro will be No. 2 in the world, second best only to Federer.
Del Potro will be well rested going into the Open, and I couldn't bet against him playing a major role in the final Slam of the year.
