Barcelona have claimed the Spanish Super Cup with a stellar second-leg performance over Athletic Club Bilbao.

The Blaugrana took a 2-1 aggregate lead back to Camp Nou after a comfortable win in San Mames last week, and managed a 3-0 victory yesterday to ensure the first trophy of the season.

Lionel Messi found himself on the score sheet twice and Bojan Krkic added a third.

Xavi was instrumental in the Barca midfield, starting from where he left off last season. The match could have ended up 7-0, and this was without Andres Iniesta.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic started the game but failed to find the back of the net. Questions are already being asked whether the big Swede can fill the large boots of Samuel Eto', but manager Pep Guardiola insists "it will take time, he will have to learn to adapt."

Barcelona now set their sights on a second trophy in quick succession, they head out to Monaco on Friday where they will face Uefa Cup winners Shakhtar Donetsk for the European Super Cup.
