According to Mike Silva’s New York Baseball Digest, Brian Cashman is looking for another left-handed pitcher for the bullpen.

Damaso Marte is out, and a timetable on him is uncertain. To be honest, I don’t think very much of Marte and I don’t think he’s very good. Maybe they are better off without him. (Marte had a 15.19ERA through 5.1 innings of work this season)

The team would like to add a left specialist, so they are searching the market. Who could they get though? There have been many rumors going around the baseball world saying that the Yankees may have interest in the MetsBilly Wagner. Now wouldn’t that be something.

Wagner and Rivera both have the same entrance music (Enter Sandman- Metallica) coming out of the bullpen, so that would be interesting.

Could you imagine that bullpen? Seriously..just think about it. Billy Wagner has been one of the most dominant closers in the game. He was injured for the whole season, but he just returned last night. Wagner faced three batters in the eighth inning yesterday, striking out two and getting a flyout. Having a back end of the bullpen look something like Hughes/Wagner/Rivera would be unbelievable.
