Before the 2008 Bahrain GP, the royal family of Bahrain had already made it clear that Max Mosley would not be welcome to attend the race. At the time, the FIA President's PR machine told the media that Mr. Mosley was not scheduled to be at the Bahrain GP.
Instead, he had other duties to perform elsewhere; the FIA President should be expected to attend the Monaco GP, as that is where he resides.
Now it appears that the royal family of Monaco, the Grimaldis, have also stated that Max is not welcome at next Sunday's grand prix in the principality.
Since then, the FIA President's PR machine has come out again, saying that the FIA president will not "officially" attend the grand prix and all related gala events, but that he will be represented by the FIA Deputy President of Sport, Marco Piccinini.
Furthermore, they say that Mosley was never intended to attend the gala events, but that Mosley will perform his duties at the grand prix in his capacity as FIA President.
All this PR is necessary because of the events that have occured in the past few months.
A video tape depicting an old man and five prostitutes performing sadomasochistic sexual role-playing in an underground "sex dungeon" was released by news service News of The World, who claimed that the old man was FIA President, Max Mosley.
This video has caused significant controversy amongst all the clubs in the world associated with the FIA, as the old man and the five prostitutes participate in actions that some consider to resemble a re-enactment of a "Nazi concentration camp".
Max Mosley has not denied his involvement in the video. Instead, he has reiterated that there is nothing 'Nazi' about the content, and that his actions are eccentric but legal.

How long can he keep his job?

Not very long; I hope to see MM out sooner than later; we need a new FIA president to turn things around, i.e. get rid of the 10 sec penalty for crossing a closed pitlane but also to give new credence to the head body of motorsports.

I think he is going to have to jump before he is pushed ... Unfortunately sooner rather than later ... I mean I dont think I have anything against the guy but its now starting to impact on the reputation of Formula 1 and we need all the publicity we can get in some countries ... The fact that he isnt allowed to show face at Monaco of all places ... The most historic date in the F1 calendar then it doesnt bode well ... Sorry Max ... But ur numbers up ... Time to call it a day and make way for someone who will maybe demand more respect from the people of the world over.

It is to be hoped that the identities of those responsible and hidden behind the organized sting against Max will soon be revealed.
M15 cannot afford to suggest that they had no idea of their operatives involvement, even if it was as a bit of 'work on the side'.
They have already accepted his resignation, so they have admitted an involvement.
They cannot expect the British public to believe that they were unaware that this operatives wife was the one who organized the orgy, she was also the one who received tens of thousands of pounds from the News of the World.
M15 are far more intelligent than that and they vet all their operatives thoroughly in anycase.
A terrible reflection of British intelligence if they did not know.
The News of the World must also realize that they are going to lose big time in court to Max, so it is also in their interests to reveal those who are behind this criminal invasion of privacy designed to undermine one of the top people in sport.
Come on NOTW, you are always saying how important it is to tell the truth!!!!
I am sure the British public are waiting in eager anticipation for the truth to get out.
There are after all Billions involved in this case.
Monaco would be a great venue for such an expose.
Perhaps Martin Brundel could mention it on his grid walk?

Kieth, why would it matter if and when any organized sting is uncovered?
It matters not one single wit.
Dozens of motoring and motorsports organizations have called for his head regardless, it's not the "sting" whether true or not, but how he has impacted both the sport and the commercial entities that involve themselves with the sport.
Question Keith, Mosley came out and specifically made the allegation no "F1 opinion makers" had asked for him to step down. When he made the statement several F1 drivers, and many others within the FIA or associated organizations had done exactly done precisely that.
What does that make Mosley, seriously shuttered from reality, or a flatout liar?
either way it's grounds for his removal.
And BTW Keith, I recommend you not cut & paste one comment and post it on various threads as you have done here. At the vary least it makes you look a bit lazy.

Trying to chase me down Marc, is there a reason perhaps?
The hypocrisy in this case is amazing.
Perhaps it is time to expose some of the sexual activities of these shakers and movers in F1 you mention.
I can assure you there are some very interesting stories available.
I can think of at least three who are at present hounding Max.
IMO the sexual activities of Max Mosley hold very little interest to most people and it is only the noise made by the NOTW about its obvious and calculated sting that is motivating the naive to follow.
The NOTW has been used and it is going to be increasingly amusing as they ramp up the insults against Max because they have become aware of this fact.
They are going to lose out big time in court and they now know it.
Rolling out ancient luminaries like JWS will not help them at all.
The issue is now one of National security and is not going to go away.
