John Smoltz Agrees to Deal With Cardinals

The 42-year old pitcher John Smoltz has agreed to a contract on wendesday with the NL Central leading St.Louis Cardinals.

John Smoltz joined the NL Central leaders shortly after he cleared waivers, following his release by the Boston Red Sox. He was 2-5 with an 8.33 ERA in eight starts for the Boston Red Sox.

John Smoltz is likely to start Saturday against the San Diego Padres said St. Louis Cardinals General manager John Mozeliak.
