It's that time again MAC fans! The MAC-Attack is back and ready to preview another Mid-American Football team and their chances at winning it all this coming season. Today the MAC-Attack travels to Oxford, Ohio to the home of the Miami (OH) RedHawks.

2008 Record: 1-7 (2-10)

Key Losses:

  • K Nate Parseghian
  • P Jake Richardson
  • LB Joey Hudson
  • LB Clayton Mullins
  • LB Chris Shula

2009 Key Games:

  • Western Michigan (Away, Sept. 19)
  • Temple (Away, Nov. 5)
  • Buffalo (Home, Nov. 11)

Analysis:
It is no secret the 2008 RedHawks were just plain horrible. The good news is a year of experience should do wonders. Quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh and running back Thomas Merriweather are returning for the '09 campaign. Raudabaugh has several wide outs returning as well, meaning the offense should be better in 2009.

On the other hand, the defense should be in for a rough year in 2009. Linebackers Joey Hudson, Clayton Mullins and Chris Shula were three of the top four tacklers in 2008 and won't be returning in 2009. Miami will have to find replacements or risk giving up major yards.

Now here is a first for the MAC-Attack. Yes, we are talking special teams. The RedHawks lost both the starting place kicker Nate Parseghian and punter Jake Richardson. Both were highly regarded after the 2008 season, so replacing Parsegian and Richardson will be a difficult task.

Bottom Line:
Expect some improvement from the Miami (OH) RedHawks, but a tough non-conference schedule won't help.

Predicted 2009 Record: 3-5 (3-9)
