LAS VEGAS, NV—Fellow Angelinos, the Dodgers are falling out fast for some reason. Look out because here come the Giants and the Rockies right behind to pick up the title if the Dodgers fall out.

Would it be a bad idea to bring in John Smoltz for some much needed help? Word is that Smoltz has been in fact in contact with the Dodgers this week on possibly coming in to help a pitching staff that has fallen off of late. I think its a win-win for Joe Torre and gang to get an experienced Smoltz with the youngsters.

As of today (8/19/09) the Dodgers are 4.5 games ahead of Colorado and 5.5 ahead of the Giants. Right now, hitting wise, the Rockies have the edge, while pitching wise the Giants have the edge. With the addition of Randy Johnson, these young Giants' pitchers are fast becoming stars in no-no Jonathon Sanchez and last years cy winner Tim Lincecum.

I do not think the Rockies will last here but former Dodgers manager now turned Rockies manager Jim Tracy would love nothing more that to get his former employer by the tail.

I say, Dodgers grab Smoltz, he just may be the savior they need in Los Angeles before its too late.

Torre, Torre, Torrre, In Joe LA trusts!
