Prediction: Alexander Ovechkin Wins The Hart Memorial Trophy

Bradley KarpCorrespondent IMay 17, 2008

This year's Hart Memorial trophy winner is Alexander Ovechkin.

The Russian star was able to shell out a left winger record 65 goals and 112 points in 82 games. King Ovie also led the league in points, goals, powerplay goals, shots and game winning goals. He did all this while scoring 27 percent of his teams goals in 2007-2008.

This is why AO takes home the Hart.

When we told Alexander that he was a choice for the Hart Memorial this season, he responded by saying, "It’s not about me. It’s all about my team and my teammates.”

The 22 year old superstar not only exemplifies all the skills needed to play the game, but he has the HART as well.

“He’s a superstar in every sense of the word,” said Carolina coach Peter Laviolette. “He beats you with his speed, his determination, his physical play and his shot, and he plays hard at both ends of the ice.”

Unfortunately for Laviolette he knows all too well the threat Ovechkin can be. Ovechkin lit up the Hurricanes for 11 points in eight games. He is the only Capital in history to record two 100 point seasons and there are many more to come.

More trophies will ensue.
