Jason Hanson Undergoes Knee Surgery, But He'll Be Up and Kicking Again Soon

Jason Hanson underwent minor knee surgery yesterday morning. According to head coach Jim Schwartz, Hanson should return to the team "pretty quickly".
I know that I had to catch my breath when I read the headline: Knee surgery for Lions' Hanson.
Hanson was one of the few bright spots on the Lions 0-16 team last year. He tied Morten Anderson's record for the most 50+ yard field goal in one season.
Hanson had tried to play through the injury and he really didn't show any ill effects during the pre-season game against the Falcons where he kicked a 47 yard field goal. But he did have some minor issues on kick-offs. And rather than let the undisclosed injury linger and possibly get worse, the decision was made to correct the issue now rather than let it nag him for the season.
Lions placed linebacker Cody Spencer, who has a torn ACL, on injured reserved to allow them to sign kicker Swayze Waters. Waters will assume the kicking duties for the Cleveland pre-season game.
Jason, I think I speak for all Lions fans across the nation: Get better soon!
