There's a hot new Danish in town!

And no, I'm not talking about a new chocolate flavored danish from Dunkin Donuts.

I'm talking about Mikkel Boedker, a talented forward from Denmark.

At last years NHL Entry Draft, Lars Eller was taken at number thirteen by the St. Louis Blues.  At that point, it was the highest a Danish hockey player had ever been taken at an NHL Entry Draft.

That  record could be broken this year when the draft takes place in Ottawa, Ontario.

Mikkel Boedker, a left wing for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League is ranked number seven overall by the International Scouting Service, and could easily be taken above number thirteen.

Boedker, a 5'11", 195 pound winger with a left shot, played for V. Frolunda Jr. from 2005-2007, and currently plays for Kitchener.  He had 17 goals, 26 assists, 43 points, and 26 penalty minutes in 50 career games in Europe, and has 29 goals, 44 assists, 73 points, and 14 penalty minutes in 62 games with Kitchener this year.  He also has three goals, four assists, seven points, and 16 career penalty minutes in 11 career World Junior Championship games for Denmark.

One scout had Boedker ranked second on his list behind Steven Stamkos.  "He is frighteningly good...He's really good right now and going to get better," the scout said of Boedker.

His skills include his remarkable skating ability, and general quickness and breakaway speed.  Scouts see him as more of a playmaker than a scorer.

The Toronto Maple Leafs pick seventh in this year's entry draft and if the Leafs are lucky he may just fall into their laps on draft day.
