Okay, I'm new here so let me just set the record straightI'm a die-hard Yankees fan.

They are known as the franchise with the most wins in all of sports. They have the ability to go out and sign the big names they need to win, so why would they trust a couple of kids with the Yankees' future?

With how Johan Santana's been pitching for the New York Mets (4-2 3.10 ERA) compared to the combined totals of Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy (0-7 8.74 ERA), I would have tried to acquire Santana. However, with the Minnesota Twin's high demands, it was a difficult situation.

But now with the Yankees in last place at 20-22 and five games behind the division leading Tampa Bay Rays, are the Yankees still preaching patients?

The "little boss" Hank Steinbrenner (who spoke strongly about wanting the lefty ace Santana) is wanting to see more fire from the Yankees and saying "We'll add whoever we have to add."

With that said, who could the Yankees acquire? Is it too late for the Yankees? And we know (or we're pretty sure) the Yankees aren't going to trade their young pitchers, so what can they do?

Possible free agent they've been watching Freddy Garcia seems like a cheap easy pick up. Are the Yankees willing to sacrifice a year and risk their prestige of making the playoffs 12 years in a row?

If the Yankees can establish a solid 1-5 starting rotation by the trade deadline, they could be in contention for their second American League Wild Card in as many years.

There's a few ways they can do this: signing leftover free agents, doing the inevitable and moving Joba Chamberlain from the setup man or pulling off a decent trade and acquiring Rich Harden or Joe Blanton from the Oakland Athletics.

This being said, they are still not in as bad of shape as they were last season. Even with Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada out, they're only two games under .500, in mid May.

The bullpen has been very good and Mariano Rivera is looking like his old self. With our ace in Chien-Ming Wang doing what he does best, inducing the ground balls and racking up his wins, we can only wait for his every start.

As long as the Yankees don't have to on rely Kei Igawa to start, there is still hope for the Bronx Bombers.
